It’s a sweet road to independence for Laxmi Rani Sinha of Moon Self Help Group

If you are looking for an inspirational story of a woman who is making some difference, you definitely need to read the story of Smt. Laxmi Rani Sinha of Moon Self Help Group of Bhajantipur Gaon Panchayat under BMMU Silchar. She got married in the year 2010 and she came to this village. Her husband had a small sweet shop by which they could run their small family. In the meantime, her family grew and she became a mother of two children. Naturally, their expenses increases, this further leads to financial crises in their family. BMMU Silchar became ASRLM intensive in the year 2018 and started working in full swing.  Although the woman initially expressed reluctance to join a self-help group, but later after several awareness from the block officials the lady came into ASRLM fold. She joined a SHG when her family was in turmoil and the SHG availed Rs. 25,000 under Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Yojona in the same year followed by Community Investment Fund of Rs. 50,000 in the year 2020.
In 2020, they applied for a bank loan from Canara Bank Silchar and the bank sanctioned a loan of Rs. 1,00,000 after properly verification of their books of record. She borrowed Rs 30,000 from the first bank loan and invested in her existing small shop and made it much bigger and more beautiful. Recently they have already received a capital subsidy of Rs 50,000 for proper repayment as a result the bank sanctioned another loan of Rs. 2,00,000 to them. She borrowed Rs 20,000 from their second loan too.
Needless to say, the shop in this area is the most beautifully furnished now. She buys 15 liters of milk daily from member of other SHGs of her village for sweet preparation. The sweet shop is known for its Rosogulla, Lal Mohan, Kalakand, Barfi, Laddu etc. among others. They also serve snacks and chaat that includes Samosa, Kachuri etc. The quality of the sweets she makes is so good that people from the city goes to her shop to buy sweets. For her best efforts, there are four people working in her shop today. The livelihoods of four other people depended on her shop. She became self-reliant and abled to support four other people. For her food processing activities, we have already submitted a proposal under PM Formlisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme and it has already been recommended from the SRLM.
According to her, the lady is now able to earn a minimum of Rs, 3,000 to 4000 per day. She is so capable today that she has enrolled her two sons in DPS like school. She has future plan to grow her business online and launch a website to make delivery in door step. Hence proved, there is no substitute to hard work and patience. Laxmi’s journey is an example that those who are genuine and loyal to their work and know the art of money naking definitely make it big with time.
